Satellite TV Free PC Viewing Over The Internet

Watch Satellite TV on PC wherever you are in the world

Yes it's now possible for you to hook up your home TV to the Internet and enjoy satellite TV free pc viewing from wherever you happen to be in the world. Provided of course that you have a good Internet connection.

Not only are you able to watch your home sattelite TV from any computer or notebook with a broadband connection, you can also enjoy digital TV streamed direct from your home to your suitably equipped PDA or smartphone. No messing around with a dish trying to get satellite beamed down from space, it comes straight from the Internet.

Why would you want to watch satellite TV on Internet?

Imagine that you are away from home on a business trip or on holiday somewhere and you are missing your favourite sporting event. Well now you don't have to, you can watch that NFL game online from almost anywhere in the world.

Have you ever been on a business trip in a foreign country where you don't speak the language? I have and I know how boring it can be when you're stuck in a hotel room with nothing to do but watch TV that you don't understand. Well now you have an option, by using the hotels broadband connection you can watch direct Internet satellite TV straight from the box in your own living room back home.

Sling Box Media turns your home system into portable satellite TV equipment

Sling Media have a product that looks like a big chocolate bar that sits on top of your home TV stack. It connects to your satellite box, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), TV aerial and your home network (LAN). It even has infrared (IR) emitters to allow it to control your existing equipment from anywhere in the world.

When correctly connected and configured Sling Box Media acts like a web server and streams the audio and video from your sattelite TV, DVR and other video sources to the Internet allowing you to watch your home sattelite TV from anywhere where there is a broadband Internet connection. That's a pretty neat thing to do.

Watch digital TV for PC anywhere in your home

Sling Box Media not only allows you to watch digital TV from your home equipment anywhere in the world, it also allows you to watch it anywhere in your house too. Anywhere where your home LAN network can reach of course.

It will also work with wireless networks or Wi-Fi making it very easy to watch satellite TV in any room in your house. You don't even need a Sattelite TV Descrambler

Sling Box Media as a security device

Sling box isn't limited to satellite TV; it can take standard TV video and audio from practically any device with an AV connection. This means that you can connect security cameras to the system and access live streamed video from them wherever you are. Imagine the peace of mind that will give you.

Watch satellite TV on PC Remotely - The drawbacks

Sling Box Media is a great bit of kit but I can't finish this article without touching on some of the drawbacks that I can see it has.

To be able to watch your home satellite TV remotely you must leave some equipment switched on. The Sling Box is able to control one piece of equipment using its IR emitters so that one can be left on standby. Any other piece of equipment that you might want to use must be left switched on. This will include your satellite or cable box, your DVR and of course your Sling Box and network equipment like the modem and router. Personally I don't like leaving electrical equipment switched on when I go away but this might just be a good enough reason.

Only one user can watch the video streamed from your satellite TV remotely at any one time. This is a shame because it limits the possibilities but Sling Box is still a very powerful piece of equipment nonetheless. I have a feeling that someone will crack that particular limitation before too long.

Never be homesick again

With a Sling Box on your home satellite TV, free pc viewing makes your notebook a home from home.
